Jane Richards

Jane has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, in both international and domestic markets. Her expertise includes positions in marketing, sales, business development, operations, and strategic planning for 19 years in 4 divisions of American Cyanamid Company/Wyeth.

Since joining Advantage Healthcare Inc. in 1996, projects she has handled have spanned strategic and tactical issues, including commercial assessments, marketing plans, and business development analyses. She has conducted domestic and global analyses in a range of therapeutic categories to assess new product entries and rationalization of research and licensing. She has also prepared manuals and training programs for marketing and marketing research departments on topics such as preparing commercial assessments and guidelines for professional marketing. Recently, she has completed projects in cardiology, infectious diseases, dermatology, central nervous system, and immunology/oncology.

Jane's most recent corporate position was Vice President of Business Development for Lederle Laboratories. She identified, analyzed, negotiated, and obtained corporate approval for licensing and copromotion projects geared toward physicians and other healthcare professionals. She provided commercial and strategic direction for the division, including development of a plan and formation of a team to investigate therapeutic areas of focus for a targeted portfolio strategy. Identifying Lederle products that were no longer a strategic sales fit, she spearheaded copromotion negotiations with several companies. In addition to these responsibilities, in October of 1994 Jane was named Integration Coordinator by the Presidents of Lederle and Wyeth-Ayerst to coordinate the merger of the US Pharmaceutical/Vaccine businesses. She was a member of the Steering Committee, responsible for decisions regarding strategies and structure, and was personally responsible for the integration process for the Lederle organization, including thousands of employees.

Jane's experience with Lederle Laboratories also includes the positions of Director of Marketing Research and Planning, where she oversaw primary and secondary market research for in-line and new products and production forecasting for several Cyanamid Divisions; and Business Unit Director, where she directed the commercial operation for the Cardiovascular/CNS/Metabolic Disease portfolio. Managing a team of 9 people, Jane prepared the launch plans for a new antihypertensive, chaired the copromotion committee for a calcium channel blocker, and slowed the generic erosion of an off-patent product through micromarketing initiatives. Jane represented the marketing department as a member of several Research Division project teams to ensure that proper commercial input was provided for products in development, ultimately resulting in product profiles that would meet the needs of the marketplace.

Jane began her career in the Medical Research Division of American Cyanamid as an International Regulatory Affairs Associate. This experience led to a transfer to Lederle International, where she was involved in various pricing, promotion, and business planning functions. After completing a sales assignment in the New York area, she was transferred to Cyanamid Iberica, Madrid, Spain, where she formed and trained the hospital sales force and launched piperacillin as the first hospital-exclusive antibiotic. She also conducted a test market for a dermatologic product that resulted in a national relaunch of the product and a 700% increase in sales.

She returned to the United States in Marketing for Lederle International, where her positions included Product Manager - Antibiotics; Marketing Manager - New Products; and Director, Marketing - Prescription Products, where she directed an 11-person team in developing and implementing marketing plans and promotional programs. Jane was then promoted to Area Operations Director with general management responsibility for the pharmaceutical and vaccine businesses in 6 countries (in southern Europe and Canada). Her responsibilities included preparing annual budgets, evaluating and approving capital expenditures, gaining approval for licensing and comarketing arrangements, and divesting unprofitable businesses. Jane was a member of the Board of Directors of an Italian subsidiary and member of the Management Committee of the Italian joint venture with Takeda.

Jane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Modern Languages and Business from Fairfield University in Connecticut, and an MBA concentrating in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University, New Jersey.
